    KUNZ Spring Tester

KUNZ Spring Tester

Key Tasks

  • Testing and verification of spring force and compression characteristics in aircraft brake components
  • Automated Go/No-Go detection of worn, fatigued or deformed springs
  • Each test programme supports up to three compression heights or spring loads
  • 7-inch touchscreen HMI with automatic error alerts – no continuous monitoring required

Overview

The KUNZ Spring Tester is a robust and precise solution designed for the testing and evaluation of springs used in aircraft brake systems. It enables accurate measurement of spring force and compression characteristics, ensuring that components meet strict OEM specifications and aviation safety requirements.

The Spring Tester features a 7-inch touchscreen HMI for intuitive programme selection and operation. Each spring programme can include up to three different compression heights or spring loads, making the system highly flexible and adaptable for a wide range of spring types – all without complex setup or additional equipment.

The system automatically alerts the operator in the event of an error or out-of-specification result, eliminating the need for continuous monitoring and allowing technicians to perform other tasks in parallel. With a compression speed of 300 mm/min, a maximum spring height of 180 mm and a maximum compression force of 5 kN, the Spring Tester covers the full range of springs used in commercial aircraft brake assemblies.

Main Benefits

  • Automated Go/No-Go detection – no manual judgement required for pass/fail decisions
  • Each programme supports up to three compression heights or spring loads for maximum flexibility
  • 7-inch touchscreen HMI for intuitive, fast programme selection
  • Automatic error alerts allow operators to perform parallel tasks – improves productivity
  • Very compact footprint: 621 × 210 × 636 mm – fits on any workbench or shelf
  • Compression speed 300 mm/min, max. spring height 180 mm, max. force 5 kN
  • Robust and durable construction for long-term use in MRO environments
  • Compliant with OEM specifications and aviation maintenance standards

Fits Anywhere – Handles Every Spring in the Brake Assembly

The KUNZ Spring Tester is built for efficiency in any workshop environment. Its very compact footprint – just 621 × 210 × 636 mm – allows it to fit on virtually any workbench or shelf, making it easy to integrate into an existing brake maintenance workflow without requiring dedicated floor space.

Each spring programme can include up to three different compression heights or spring loads, making the Spring Tester highly flexible and adaptable for the full range of springs found in commercial aircraft brake assemblies – all without needing complex setup or additional tooling.

Automated Alerts – Efficiency at Your Fingertips

Operation is simple and fast thanks to the 7-inch touchscreen HMI, which allows convenient selection and switching between test programmes. The system automatically alerts the operator if a spring falls outside the specified parameters, so continuous monitoring is not required.

This means technicians can initiate a test and move on to other tasks, returning only when the system signals a result. The combination of automated testing, automatic alerts and a compact design makes the KUNZ Spring Tester one of the most time-efficient tools in any aircraft brake maintenance workshop.
