    KUNZ Plug Tester

KUNZ Plug Tester

Key Tasks

  • Testing of overinflation plugs and thermal relief plugs on aircraft wheel assemblies
  • Quadrupling shop compressed air pressure to the required test level – no nitrogen bottle needed
  • Selectable P/N Mode (CMM-compliant testing) and Manual Mode (flexible testing)
  • Improves workshop HSE by eliminating the need for high-pressure nitrogen cylinders

Overview

The KUNZ Plug Tester is a dedicated tool for the testing of overinflation plugs and thermal relief plugs on aircraft wheel assemblies. These plugs are safety-critical components that must be regularly tested to ensure correct function in service.

The KUNZ Plug Tester amplifies standard shop compressed air pressure by a factor of four, reaching the test pressures required for CMM-compliant plug testing – without the need for a high-pressure nitrogen bottle. This significantly improves workshop HSE by eliminating the handling of pressurised gas cylinders.

The tester offers two operating modes: P/N Mode for part-number-specific CMM testing, and Manual Mode for flexible testing applications. Both modes are selectable directly on the unit.

Main Benefits

  • Eliminates the need for a nitrogen bottle – improved workshop HSE and reduced handling risk
  • Uses shop compressed air – amplified fourfold to reach required test pressure
  • P/N Mode for CMM-compliant, part-number-specific testing
  • Manual Mode for flexible, non-CMM testing applications
  • Dedicated solution for overinflation plug and thermal relief plug testing
  • Compact and easy to use – no specialist training required
  • Reduces infrastructure requirements in the workshop

CMM-Compliant Plug Testing – Without the Nitrogen Bottle

Testing overinflation and thermal relief plugs to the correct pressure specifications is a mandatory maintenance task – but doing it safely and conveniently has traditionally required the use of high-pressure nitrogen bottles.

The KUNZ Plug Tester changes this. By amplifying standard shop compressed air to the required test pressure, it delivers CMM-compliant results without the HSE risks and logistical burden of nitrogen cylinder handling. The result is a safer, simpler and more efficient plug testing process.

Two Modes for Maximum Flexibility

The KUNZ Plug Tester offers two operating modes to cover all plug testing requirements:

P/N Mode enables part-number-specific testing in strict accordance with the aircraft manufacturer's CMM, ensuring fully compliant results for every plug type.

Manual Mode provides flexible, free-pressure testing for situations where CMM-specified parameters are not required, giving the operator full control over the applied test pressure.
